$weeklytip

This is a somewhat weekly (depending on if I can be bothered) tip menu. :ok_hand:

17 October 2018 – Jagged Wounds and Lunar Inspiration drop in value as you obtain more targets, as you do not have enough energy to maintain these DoTs on all targets. For this reason, you should consider Incarnation over Jagged Wounds and Blood Predator for Mythic+. Incarnation provides the benefit of double damage Rake or Wild Fleshrending+Shred combo which is very valuable for difficult trash packs in dungeons.

10 October 2018 – Don’t go to any runs which might be a sale run to do your weekly clear, because you’ll probably get banned. Especially if you’re a feral main that would never get a cut anyway xD. The best way to not get banned is to pug but make sure there are no more than 3 people from the same guild.

11 September 2018 – Try out Restoration Affinity on all your encounters where you don’t need the extra range for Thrash cleave. It’s a very strong heal! Some notable encounters on Heroic include MOTHER, Fetid Devourer, Vectis, Mythrax and Ghuun!

4 September 2018 – Not sure how to play feral? I recommend the Big Bite Build. talents=1111212. Get 3x Raking Ferocity, then always cast BT at 5cp followed by Rake. Ignore Rake Timer. You should also get a Raking Ferocity tracker to ensure EVERY Bite is Buffed. When using BBB (not yet implemented in Sims), 1 trait of RF might say +1400 damage to Bite, in actuality its around ~2700 damage when cast with a 50e Bite. So when you have 3 x Raking Ferocity, you need to always have a RF Bite. This means you ignore the pandemic/snapshot mechanics of Rake.  You can finesse RF and cast it at 4cp, but if you crit at 3cp, it means you need to Rake at 5CP.

28 August 2018 – Feeling the need for Azerite Power? Feral is really strong on island expeditions! Take Mass Entanglement and Incarnation, and stay in 200% Travel Form form. You can cast Mass Entanglement to root mobs, then go in for the KILL (err Loot). You can also opt to Mass Entangle and Entangling Roots, then go into Incarn for a stealth to drop mobs! Happy farming!

21 August 2018 – Feral feeling a bit underwhelming? You can always respec from the second lowest simming pre-raid single target profile, to the lowest simming pre-raid single targe profile (Balance Druid). Alternatively you could also try the healing spec considered the worst (Restoration Druid). If you want to rage on the official forums, make sure you call it a “terrible playstyle” rather than a legitimate tuning requirement, that way the devs are sure to act.

You could also, just pay to win via the Auction House. Once you are dozens of ilevels higher than your competitors, you’ll have no problems keeping up!

14 August 2018 – People not taking you as DPS in 5man content? Tanks are in high demand so consider your offspec!

8 August 2018 – Looking for a Pawn Import? Now that we have Hasted Bleeds and we are resource starved at the start of BFA, Haste is a great stat in every conceivable scenario.

( Pawn: v1: “840 Rbob”: Class=Druid, Spec=Feral, Agility=1.86, CritRating=1.36, HasteRating=1.74, MasteryRating=0.96, Versatility=1.29 )

1 August 2018 – Cool trick, if you have three combo points and your Moonfire, Rake and Rip needs a refresh soon, you can cast Regrowth-> Moonfire/Rake/Rip or Rake/Moonfire/Rip. This is discussed in one of my videos.

25 July 2018 – With the shortened dot durations and more limited resources in the 8.0.1, it pays to concentrate on uptime over snapshotting, particularly on multi-target cleave fights. Make sure you have a good setup that lets you dynamically track multi-dotting, using either a @focus/@target system (good for 2-3), a @boss1/@target system (you can interchange this with previous) and/or @mouseover (tricky with feral range requirements, but most versatile).

18 July 2018 – If you have 4 combo points and a low timer on Tiger’s Fury, check you have enough time to generate Bloodtalons using PS and the subsequent ability. If you don’t, it might be better to push an extra ability into the TF window and use the first BT on your finisher, with the second BT on the generator. For example if you have 1GCD remaining in TF, you can use Shred/Moonfire, BT, Finisher, Rake rather than BT, Rake, Finisher, Shred/Moonfire. You should also try to push offensive finishers into Tiger’s Fury and Savage Roar (12.6s pandemic) out of Tiger’s Fury.

11 July 2018 – If you want to add some extra complexity to your play, in addition to snapshotting which is based on class based abilities (TF/BT), you should also consider bursting based on gear based procs. Given the relatively long duration of Rake/Rip/SR pandemic timers, you have flexibility for refresh timing to place your Ferocious Bites and Shreds. After considering the snapshotting rules for Rake and Rip, if you can use direct damage abilities while you have a temporary gear buff, and use your damage over time abilities while you do not, you can shift several abilities into better damage windows over the course of a fight.

As a simple example, if you had a large trinket proc with 1s remaining, TF with 3s and 70 energy and you need to cast both Rake and Shred, you would cast Shred first followed by Rake, since the full trinket affect would be applied to Shred, whereas it would only apply to the application of Rake. And an inverse example would be that you don’t have a trinket proc and you are inside TF, you refresh Rake as soon as it hits pandemic so that if you do get a trinket proc later, you can use Shred.

4 July 2018 – Given that today is INDEPENDENCE day in America-land, here is an independently flavoured tip. In Battle for Azeorth, now that you are independent from the Dreamgrove, you can collect your weekly mythic cache from Boralus (Alliance) or Zuldazar (Horde). You thought just your class crowding around on reset day was bad…

27 June 2018 – Reroll a warlock – Tip submitted by warler5. Check out twitch.tv/warler5.

Everything below this line might not apply to BFA.

20 June 2018 – You can shapeshift out of many slows and movement impairing effects. Sometimes, a debuff with a damage component which also slows or roots you can be dispelled by shifting out of cat form! For example, the balls heading towards the second platform in the Imonar encounter. You can also think ahead and pre-shift bear form then after taking the debuff, shift into cat form. That’s a 200 IQ play right there!

13 June 2018 – Ashamane’s Frenzy allows you to buff 10 abilities with the +30% damage buff. For the opener where you have reliable casts and energy, you can choose to cast Tiger’s Fury after Ashamane’s Frenzy in order to move an additional ability into the Tiger’s Fury window with minimal loss to AF. Refer to this image. LINK

6 June 2018 – Wild Charge lets you travel extremely fast on a short cooldown. It’s a good idea to make a macro to cancel cat form so you can Wild Charge to a friendly player – useful for stacking perfectly where required. Skull Bash is a good gap closer too!

/cancelform
/cast [@mouseover,help,exists][@target] Wild Charge;

30 May 2018 – If you want to play tightly and want to line up Rake with Tiger’s Fury, remember that Rake refresh pre-pandemic is 19.5s (around 20s), so refresh Rake when Tiger’s Fury has 15-19s left on cooldown!

23 May 2018 – Try using /cast [@targettarget] to top up the tank in free globals. Feral will be slower in BFA. Installing a weakaura that tells you when you have low energy and a PS Proc is helpful to make sure it doesn’t go to waste!

16 May 2018 – A 1CP Rip refreshed by a 5CP Rip will deal the damage of a 5CP Rip but have a duration that obeys normal pandemic rules. This can be useful for immune mobs such as Kin’garoth or Aggramar. For example if your raid team deals with Kin’garoth’s add transition quickly, you may wish to put a low CP rip on Kin’garoth while he is immune, followed by a 5CP Rip. The reverse is also helpful, you may wish to place a low CP Rip refresh on Aggramar (15-30s immune) or Kin’garoth (40s immune) at the start of an immune phase to generate 4t21 procs.

9 May 2018 – Outside of Incarnation, your finisher selection will typically be between a damage dealing finisher (Rip/FB) or Savage Roar. If possible, without dropping uptime, refresh Savage Roar when TF is not up. Refreshing a non-pandemic Rip (>7.2s) in TF will get you a 31.2s Rip (7.2+24) which will be enough to last you until the next TF. When using Behemoth’s Headdress, track the true cooldown of TF in addition to the current buff time to make sure you have high uptime on TF Rip by refreshing Rip as your last TF finisher if there will be a long duration until TF is up again.

2 May 2018 – If you proc Ashamane’s Rip when TF is up, the AR will deal 15% extra damage on the existing Rip. If you had a 115% Rip, the AR will deal 132.25% normal Rip damage. When AR is up there is no need to spam generators outside of TF, if you won’t cap resources/MoC. If you spam generators outside of TF, you may overwrite the TF AR with a standard AR.

25 April 2018 – When AoEing using the standard raid build (Pred, Incarn, BrS, MoC + Luffas/Chat), save charges for add spawns and keep an eye on mob health when there are less than three mobs left. Try to spam Tiger’s Fury when the 2nd last mob dies, then save the last Tiger’s Fury refresh for when you are low on energy or to line up with another mechanic. For example, on Portal Keeper, you want 2 charges of BRS per imp portal and you can use the end of the saved Tiger’s Fury for the start of the next set.

18 April 2018 – Survival Instincts can help you increase your uptime if used correctly. For example, on Garothi Worldbreaker encounter you can opt to use SI rather than running out on Mythic Difficulty. In the Coven of Shivarra encounter, using a combination of SI and Healthstone, can be a good way to maintain DoT uptime during a storm. SI has two charges so you can use one offensively and keep the other one on back-up.

11 April 2018 – Tracking Ashamane’s Rip can assist you decide how aggressively you should refresh Rip and/or pool energy. If you don’t have Ashamane’s Rip and aren’t waiting to refresh a debuff, you should try to keep your energy low. On the other hand, if you have Ashamane’s Rip and aren’t waiting to refresh a debuff, you have more freedom with cast order for your generators, including waiting for favourable trinket/concordance procs.

4 April 2018 – If you are using Luffas and are in a single target portion of an encounter, consider using Thrash as it can have a higher damage per energy than Shred. Some conditionals to consider include Thrash at 4CP, clearcasting, or at the start of Tiger’s Fury where you would otherwise energy cap.

28 March 2018 – If you are using Brutal Slash and are in a single target portion of an encounter, use clearcasting on Brutal Slash inside incarnation (subject to the 3 generator per finisher rule) and use clearcasting on Shred outside of incarnation. You should pool charges to dump in Ashamane’s Frenzy (30%), Tiger’s Fury (15%) or the firs t15seconds of Incarn (20-35%). With a second target, use Clearcasting on Brutal Slash over Shred/Thrash.

21 March 2018 – Combo point management can help you get better generator to finisher ratios. If timers permit you to reorder abilities then you can optimise CP usage, for example using Rake/MF at even CP (especially 4) and Shred/Multi-target Thrash/Multi-target swipe on odd CP.

14 March 2018 – During Incarnation w/ Behemoth’s you should use shred on odd combo points and rake/moonfire/thrash/brs on even combo points to get 3 generators per finisher. Where you need to refresh Rake and Moonfire in close proximity for example, you could refresh one just before one finisher and one just after a finisher. Alternatively you can cast a the non-shred DoT ability at 0 combo points, and if that ability crits, refresh the other non-shred DoT. On your incarnation outside of the opener, saving Ashamane’s Frenzy for a 2 generator finisher can help you get Tiger’s Fury to the end of your Incarnation.
